AM 10k Series Race in Seymour.  5 degress, with windchill (or whatever "real feel" means) below zero.  Resigned to slower goal time due to temp. and recent training results vs. percieved efforts.  5:45 first mile was too hard, as suspected, but, kept the rest right around 6:00.  not much to say, since I'm pretty dissappointed with current fitness level.  36:54 - 10k for a lonesome 2nd place

There's definitely a threshold for cold weather running versus performance. 5 degrees is well below that.

Any thoughts on what to do going forward? My guess is that mileage is down somewhat. I found last year training in the winter that even though I was going my doubles I didn't have consistent longer runs because I was constrained by the 60 minute cutoff on the treadmill. My race times suffered even though I hit workouts that are typically indicator workouts. Could be a number of factors, of course. You might just need a few races to sort things out.

Thanks, Jason. You hit the nail on the head, I think. Lower mileage, consisting of too much TM, with a lot of the 45-60 min. variety of workouts.
